One of my first customers through the Delaware WONDER program was Howard, who wanted help managing his budget. In 2014, he had purchased a used car with a high APR from a local dealer. He knew the rate was high, but felt he had no other choice at the time because of his poor credit. Since purchasing the car, Howard had become unemployed, and was struggling to pay all of his bills with his unemployment check.

When we met to discuss his finances, we looked at his credit report, and discovered that he actually had a very good credit score. We discussed several options for dealing with the car payments, and Howard decided to refinance his vehicle. He has since contacted a local credit union, and was informed that refinancing won’t be an issue once he finds employment.
